The Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs provides administrative leadership within the division and the university to assist students in the attainment of their educational goals. Adult Re-Entry Center .......... Santos Manuel Student Union 130, 909-537-5253
The Adult Re-Entry Center offers support for nontraditional students to help them actualize their greatest potential. The center offers a variety of programming including academic lectures and workshops that address issues specifically facing the mature student. The ARC is a place where students who have returned to school after a prolonged absence can gather for support. The Adult Re-Entry Center provides resources and referrals for services both on campus and in the community. The ARC is committed to diversity and the celebration of various cultures, orientations and life experiences.

The Associated Students, Incorporated (ASI) is the student association whose mission is to act as the official voice of the student body, raise and allocate funds, coordinate and support student activities and serve as the liaison among the students, faculty and university administration. As a nonprofit corporation, ASI has elected and appointed student officers who have the opportunity to develop and sharpen their leadership and business skills while providing needed services to the campus community. The mission of the Career Development Center is to integrate the campus and the community for the advancement of student learning and career success. Therefore, the Career Development Center offers programs that meet the career/life challenges of students and graduates. Children's Center .......... Children's Center Building, 909-537-5928
The Children's Center provides convenient, affordable and professional educational/child care services to the children of university students. Services also are available as space permits, to faculty and staff of the university as well as to the surrounding community. Fees for services are based on family size and income. The Center provides a complete educational program for children ages 3 to 6, and an educational after-school program for children ages 6 to 10. Hours of operation are from 7:30 a.m.to 10:00 p.m., M-Th (4p.m. Fridays). School-age programs are offered M-Th from 3:30 pm to 10:00 p.m. In addition to educational/child care services, the Center also offers parent education and referral services. Further, the Center is an active learning site for university students. Students gain hands-on experience in observing and working with children through course work, research, lab assignments, internships and/or employment. The Center also works closely with the local community as an advocate for children and families. The Children's Center bases its developmental philosophy and teaching techniques on the most current and widely respected research in child learning and development. Teachers at the Center who plan, implement and evaluate the curriculum are fully credentialed by the State Department of Education.

Coussoulis Arena ...... Health & Physical Education Building 121, 909-537-7360
Coussoulis Arena is the largest indoor facility in the Inland Empire (5,000 seats); and it serves Cal State by providing quality facilities for the physical education classes, Coyote athletic teams, student recreational sports programs, and university events such as graduation. Additionally, the Arena has hosted several special events which have entertained and educated the campus and community. Some programming highlights include:

The Cross-Cultural Center focuses on issues of race and ethnicity in its mission to provide a space for students from all racial and ethnic groups. Its programs, workshops, advising and support services combine to create a place for students to explore issues of identity, develop political and social consciousness, facilitate educational goals and create communities that benefit both individual students and the entire campus in fostering a community that embraces racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity and works towards ending intolerance by the development of understanding.

Housing and Residential Life ........... Serrano Village Office, 909-537-5246
Serrano Village is home to the University Apartments and Residence Halls. They are the university's on-campus housing facilities, which serve as the focal point for campus life for more than 700 residential students. Social and educational activities are organized by the Village residents with the assistance of both paraprofessional and professional staff members, creating a living and learning environment.

The University Apartments are a brand-new facility that houses 319 students. Each apartment includes four, single, bedrooms attached to a living-room, kitchen, and two bathrooms. Studio apartments and double bed-room apartments are available as well. The Residence Halls include eight, attractive, newly-renovated complexes that house more than 400 residents. Each residence hall has a main living room/TV lounge, study lounge, recreation room, kitchenette, laundry room, sundeck and patio. Both single and double rooms are available. Rooms are arranged in suites so that no more than 10 residents share a living room and bathroom. The Village has both indoor and outdoor recreation facilities. The indoor area offers pool and ping pong tables, a large screen TV and a variety of services. The outdoor area includes a swimming pool, half basketball court and sundeck complete with lounge chairs and barbeque grills. A Sketch of Serrano Village (Logo)

Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the residence halls. Smoking is not permitted inside any of the Serrano Village buildings, including the residents' rooms. A standard meal plan is included for every Serrano Village Resident.

Judicial Affairs Office ......... University Hall 231, 909-537-5185
The Judicial Affairs Officer provides information on student conduct and grievances, administers the Student Discipline Code and provides general information on judicial affairs on campus. The office is within the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. Students are invited to discuss any matters pertaining to complaints, grievances and conflicts so that the proper referral may be made. Any member of the campus community may discuss or report an alleged violation of the Student Discipline Code. Students may discuss their rights, conflict resolution, due process and general legal matters.


Marketing and Support Services ......... University Hall 161, 909-537-5189
Marketing and Support provides technical and marketing support for the offices of Admissions and Student Recruitment and Records, Registration and Evaluations as well as the office of the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Services. The office is responsible for the analysis, plan, design, development, implementation and maintenance of in-house and off-the-shelf applications that assist the staff of enrollment services. Administrative services for image-processing servers, UNIX servers and Novell servers are also provided. Other tasks performed by the office also generates and supports an extensive array of services and products such as ad hoc reports and statistical analysis to help other departments with their recruitment efforts. Other duties of this office are full cycles process of student inquiries performed by the enrollment service mail room, maintain computer security and repair both at the hardware and software levels.


National Student Exchange .............. University Hall 183, 909-537-5239
The National Student Exchange (NSE) program is an intra-United States college-level exchange program of 153 campuses in 49 states and 3 U.S. Territories. National Student Exchange provides an opportunity for CSUSB students to study and visit another university and still retain their CSUSB status for up to one full year. Students either pay their normal tuition and fees at the home campus or pay at the host campus while being treated as if they were residents of the state for tuition and fee paying purposes. NSE offers the opportunity to take courses not offered at CSUSB from a variety of professors, explore new areas of study, live in different regions, investigate graduate and professional schools, or look for future job opportunities.

Psychological Counseling Center ............... Health Center 136, 909-537-5040
The Psychological Counseling Center is the campus resource for students with concerns about relationships, lifestyles, anxiety, depression or anything else that is interfering with the achievement of educational and life goals. The Center is staffed with licensed psychologists, marriage/family/child therapists and supervised graduate trainees. All enrolled students are eligible for up to eight counseling sessions per academic year at no charge, and evening appointments are also available. All information is held in strict confidence as required by law. Counseling is by appointment, and emergency situations receive immediate attention.

The Office of Services to Students with Disabilities provides services to students with temporary or permanent disabilities accommodations specific to their disability. Services may include the following: tape-recording of course-related materials, sign language interpreting, exam accommodations, assistance in registration, campus orientation, typing of papers for eligible students, assistance with library research and laboratory assignments, and mobility assistance. Diagnostic assessment to identify learning disabilities may be provided. In addition, the office administers a Workability IV federal grant, designed for CSUSB students who are also clients of the Department of Rehabilitation, to assist them with career planning and post-graduation job placement.

Student Health Center ....... Health Center Building, 909-537-5241
The Student Health Center provides basic outpatient medical services for the diagnosis and treatment of acute and subacute conditions, illnesses and injuries. The Center has programs on health education, preventive medicine and nutrition, evaluation and counseling for health problems, family planning, sexually-transmitted diseases, measle immunization, and a full-service pharmacy with medicines dispensed at cost. Low-cost laboratory and radiographic services have been contracted with local providers to whom students are referred. Medical records are kept in strict confidence as required by law. Students are encouraged to enroll in individual medical insurance plans to cover off-campus medical care, emergencies and hospitalization and the Student Health Center has information on a student health plan. Student Leadership and Development .......... Student Union 119, 909-537-5234
The Office of Student Leadership and Development (SLD) serves the university community and enhances student development by offering a wide variety of co-curricular activities. SLD staff provides assistance to more than 100 registered student organizations that offer unlimited opportunities for involvement. Registered student clubs and organizations provide ready-made laboratories for students to strengthen their leadership skills and opportunities to test classroom learning in a real-world setting. Types of registered student organizations range from academic clubs and honor societies to religious organizations and student-run sports clubs.

The Greek System at CSUSB includes five fraternities governed by the Intra-Fraternity Council (I.F.C.), four sororities governed by the Pan-hellenic Council (Ph.C.), and two fraternities and two sororities governed by the National Pan-hellenic Council (N.P.H.C.). In addition, there are two co-ed fraternities on campus and two Greek Honor Societies that assist in furthering leadership skills and scholarship standards.

New Student Orientation (NSO) offers programs for freshmen, parents, transfer students, and re-entry students in order to equip students with the information needed to better manage their transitions to the university. The mission of NSO is to provide dynamic programming that will prepare students for academic success, provide knowledge of university resources, encourage involvement in student activities, and build meaningful relationships.

The Leadership Development Series (LDS) offers skill-building workshops and discussion forums on a variety of topics related to leadership. A certificate of completion will be awarded to students who complete 20 workshops, including a minimum number in each focus area of organizations and community, individual development, and diversity.

The Student Union provides services, facilities, educational and recreational programs to enhance the quality of university life. The Student Union building is the meeting place for the campus community. Student Union boards, committees and student employment provide opportunities for students to learn leadership, programming, management and interpersonal skills. The Program Board plans a variety of entertainment programs; the Cross Cultural Center maintains a library of resources, and sponsors several on-going groups, and plans various programs and celebrations; the Women's Resource Center and Adult Re-Entry Center supports students by providing a lounge, resource collection, and educational groups; the Administrative Office offers free notarial services to currently enrolled students as well as graphic design services for a nominal fee; the Coyote Copy Center provides a variety of services, including printing, postal and fax services; and food services in the building include the Coyote Cafe, the Pub, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and a coffee bar.

Upward Bound Program ......... University Hall 346, 909-537-5914
Upward Bound is a college-oriented program funded by the U.S. Department of Education, designed to motivate potential first-generation, college-bound students. These participants are the first in their families to consider post-secondary education. Applicants must have completed the eighth grade and be at least 13 years of age, but not more than 19 years of age. The program provides tutorial services, career orientation and an opportunity to experience educational development for high school students within a college setting. The program selection is made up of students from varied cultural backgrounds who have shown potential to succeed in college. High schools serviced by Upward Bound include: Cajon, San Bernardino, San Gorgonio, Bloomington, Colton, Rialto, Eisenhower and Pacific.

Women's Resource Center ......... Santos Manuel Student Union 130, 909-537-7203
The Women's Resource Center provides a variety of programs and support services to foster personal growth, social and cultural awareness, academic well-being, and self-awareness of women and to help all students learn about and be sensitive to issues related to women. The diverse tasks of the Center are accomplished through (1) educational workshops which examine pertinent, timely issues and their effect on women of various ethnicities, ages, and lifestyles; (2) support/empowerment groups where women encourage and network with each other and (3) resources and referrals to all students who are concerned about women and women's issues.
